In 1962 G. Fecht published his view that P. Pushkin 127, apparently dealing with a god's father of Heliopolis called Wermai, in reality contained a veiled description of what happened to the High Priest of Amun Amenhotep during his suppression by the Viceroy Panehsy. In this article his theory is restudied in the light of recent chronological developments. Some additional evidence is brought forward, e.g. the appeal to pharaoh of both Wermai and Amenhotep, and a comparison of their respective problems concerning grain. It is hypothesised that the «Tale of Woe» may have been devised as a propagandistic weapon, aimed at discrediting Panehsy, who in the years following the suppression must still have posed a serious threat to Amenhotep.
