The stela of Hor, set up originally in Wadi el-Hudi under Sesostris I, steps out for its number of peculiar features among the inscriptions left on foreign lands by royal officials to commemo- rate the missions the conducted or participated in; what makes difficult the choice of a genre for it. The author argues that it was conceived as a royal inscription, in which the official in charge of setting it up includes himself by referring to the accomplishment of his mission. A separate study of each thematic section recognized in its inscription shows its relations to literary, private, royal and even to religious texts.
