The aim of this research was to determine the layout of a curtain wall in the north-eastern corner of the fortifications. Clearing work was conducted on a c. 100 m strip of wall uncovering the remains of a corner tower, enclosure wall and traces of other buildings erected along the fortifications (sectors 1–3). Only subsurface layers (humus and sand layer) were removed, which means that the latest preserved phases of the construction were recorded during this work. The uncovered architecture (mostly made of mud brick) has been heavily damaged by digging for fertilizer. A complex consisting of a curtain wall and barrel-vaulted rooms along its inner face was recorded in sector 1. In sector 2, a badly damage corner tower and remains of later settlement overbuilding the tower were documented. In this area, glass vessel’s fragments and a set of carnelian and rock-crystal beads were found. Sector 3 yielded two stone artifacts, both partly white plastered, probably originating from the churches
