This article presents a few rock-cut group-statues from the Old Kingdom, which show 3 figures (2 men and woman or 3 men) of approximately the same height. Such groups are relatively common among rock-cut statuary, while quite rare among free standing sculptures. This disproportion does not indicate that the rock-cut and free standing statues had different religious function. It was the result of economical and technical conditions connected with the sculpting of tomb statues.
