Memphis, a toponym usually used to refer to the first capital of the unified state in Ancient Egypt, was not a single city since its foundation until at least the Roman rule. It consisted of separate self-governing settlements. These administrative units were closely connected economically, socially, culturally etc., but the management of them was entrusted to officials endowed with equal power by the king. One of these settlements was a royal official residence called the White Walls (Wall). Unfortunately, the lack of sources makes it impossible to trace the entire structure of administration of the White Walls in each separate period of the Egyptian state’s history. Nevertheless, the preserved data allows us to theoretically reconstruct a list of officials governing this settlement in general.
